Crash Courses FAQs

Answering Your Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will my instructor be fully qualified?

At Crash Courses Driving School, we only use driving instructors who are fully qualified to DVSA - UK Government Driver and Vehicle Standard Agency standards. We never use trainee driving instructors so you can have peace of mind that when you take your crash driving course, it will always be with a fully qualified instructor.

  • What documents do I need to start my intensive course?

The only documentation you will need is a current provisional driving licence. You can get an application form for your Provisional Licence from any Post Office or you can apply on line at www.gov.uk

  • At what age can I apply for my Provisional Licence?

You can apply for your licence 3 months prior to your 17th birthday. Your theory test can be booked once you have your licence details however you cannot legally take your theory test until you are 17 years of age.

  • Do I need to pass my theory test before I book a crash course?

No. You can book a course with us at any time however we recommend that your driving course does not start until you have passed your theory test due to DVSA guidelines.

  • Is the cost of the theory test included in the cost of the crash driving course?

The cost of the theory test is not included in the cost of the course, however this can be added to your booking for an additional cost of £50.00. Please note, we are able to obtain earlier dates.

  • Do you offer Help with my Theory Test?

Yes. We offer a Theory Test help Course which is 5 Hours of 1- 2- 1 tuition with an approved Driving Instructor plus a free re-test if you are not successful on your first attempt. All for £299.00.

  • How long does the Theory Test Certificate last in order for me to pass my practical test?

Once you have passed your Theory Test, it is then valid for 2 years from the date that you pass. Therefore, you have two years to take your practical test.

  • Is the cost of the practical driving test included in the cost of the crash driving course?

The cost of the practical driving test is included in the price of all the courses quoted on the website. If you already have your practical test booked, we will deduct the cost of this from your course.

  • When will I have to pay for my course?

Please see individual prices pages for details of the deposits required at the time of booking. The balance is payable to your instructor on the first driving lesson.

  • Will I share a car with anyone else when I take my course?

At Crash Courses Driving School, all of our courses are conducted on a 1-2-1 basis, so there will only be you and the driving instructor in the training car.

  • Do you offer courses in automatic vehicles?

In some areas we are able to offer courses in an automatic vehicle. There will be an additional cost of £5.00 per hour for any course taken in an automatic vehicle.

  • Am I guaranteed to pass?

We will teach you all the skills and knowledge you require to pass your test, however the practical driving test is carried out by an independent government examiner who will assess your performance on the day.

  • If I do not pass my practical driving test first time, what happens next?

You will need to re-take your practical test. The minimum course we provide is 5 hours of driving, which will include your new test fee. Please note, you have to wait 10 working days before you re-take your test as stated by the DVSA.

  • Can I use my own car for my driving test?

Yes, you can use your own car if you provide the L plates and a mirror for the instructor/examiner. We would however always recommend that you use the instructor’s car as they have dual controls which can be applied, if required.

  • Do you offer Gift Vouchers?

We have a range of Gift Vouchers available. Whether you are looking for a full course or just a few introductory lessons, we have the Gift Voucher for you.
